How To: Fish Scale Chignon

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to do a fish scale chignon.

Instructions:

Greetings. I’m Neda from Noghre Negar Beauty Academy. Today I’m here with a chignon tutorial.

For this chignon, first, separate the bangs in the form of a rectangle or a square and tie the rest of the hair tight with a hairband. Let only the front of the hair be free. In the back, separate a layer from below the ponytail, tease it. You can even use a prosthetic to add volume to the hair. Tease the hair close to the root, wrap it into a bun, and put it inside a net. This will constitute the base of our chignon.

Now start separating more layers from your ponytail, apply hair cream to them, and straighten them out. For each of these thin layers into fish scale shapes and wave them and fix them to the hair using hairpins. Don’t remove the hairpins until you fix the hair completely and then remove the hairpins at the end of the process. Form all the layers of the hair in the back and on the side, like this in the form of fish scales until you reach the top of the head.

When you reach the higher layers, if you find it difficult to add the new layers on top of the previous ones, you can remove the hairpins and then add the new layers on top and add the hairpins again. Separate a layer from the top of the ponytail. We can put this layer on the top and leave it like this. Nevertheless, here I rather design a bowtie to make the work prettier. To create your bowtie, pull the layer of ponytail upward, and then bend it to curl it like this, and then bend the rest of the layer on itself to for the bowtie shape.

For the front of the head, tease the hair a bit, though here I’ve skipped teasing the hair since synthetic hair on the model has an acceptable volume already. However, remember to tease the hair on actual hair for your client. Apply some hair cream and smooth the hair on the top. Then curl the tail and wrap it under the hair layers in the back of the head and fix it right there. Apply your hair styling spray or any other type of fixing material you use.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. We’ll be happy to see you at Noghre Negar Beauty Salon.
