Greetings. I am Bahri. I am a hair formula expert and instructor. Today I am here with a tutorial on the theories and methods of hair highlighting.

The first item I want to talk about is part light. For this type of highlight, you can use a few different colors for the hair. If this is the sphere shape of the head, you can split it into three parts and then highlight the different parts. You can, however, change the colors and how you apply them based on your desires. You can dye one part blond, another copper, and the last part a chocolate color. You can rearrange and change the colors. The order is not important and you can change it based on your preference or the client. This method is called part light, in which we separate the area of the head into three parts.

If we assume this is the ears, we have to separate the first part two centimeters above the ears, the last part is separated below the ears, and anything left in between the two areas is the second section which we can dye copper. This is the type of separation we use for this highlight. For the blond part at the top, you have bleach the hair but for the other two parts, you do not need to bleach if the hair is already relatively light. However, if the hair is dark, you have to decolor the whole hair first and then dye the hair to these three colors.

The second method I want to talk about is called a dark light. For a dark light method, as it is obvious from the name, you will separate the hair into dark and light parts. This method is similar to a part light with the difference that the head is now separated in more sections. In a part light, we said we do not have to order the colors or use colors that complimented each other and we did not need to pay attention to the harmony of colors. In a dark light, you must pay attention to the harmony of colors and all the colors are from the same family.

For example, if you are using the category of gold colors, the first part can be gold color number 9. For the next part, you will have the number 8 gold, the next one seven gold, the next one 6 and so on. The same thing is true for gray or any other color you might want to use. No matter what color you use, you will use different levels of darkness for each layer from the same color. You can even mix the color and do the same. Just keep in mind that you will have to decolor the whole hair first, and then you can separate the hair and do what I explained.

Some people ask how they can do this without mixing the colors for each layer. First, separate the hair and tie the sections using a hair clip, then start in the back of the head and work on the last layer by dyeing it,
For example, the gold color number 5, then wrap the layer in foil and move on to the next layer. We will then wrap this layer in a foil wrap and move on to the next layer, so on and so forth until all the layers have been covered. After rinsing the hair, and when the hair strands are mixed, you will see a beautiful wave of highlights on the hair.

The next highlight I want to talk to you about is called relight. Whenever in a highlight you use a dye that has a red or copper background, you are doing a Relight. There is another method called Vlight, which is when you highlight the hair using any color with a purple background.
