Greetings. In this tutorial, I want to show you the balayage technique. For this video, I will use Simon Products. Thank you for watching.

People often ask what the difference between highlights and balayage is. Balayage is a chaotic highlight with some space from the root of the hair but highlights start close to the hair root. This is the main difference between the highlight and balayage. In balayage, we separate the hair into four parts.

Now we can start working on the layers. Remove the clip from one of the hair layers and start working and sectioning it like a highlight. We will start working on the hair like this. As you can see, I have chosen a section of the hair. To avoid making lines on the hair, we start teasing the hair towards the root and then we can apply the product to the hair. Keep in mind that some of the hair must remain in the original hair color. We will apply the product to the hair and wrap it in foil.

For this balayage, I will use Simon’s products. First, pour two scoops of Simon’s decoloring powder inside the bowl. Now add your nine percent oxidant and start mixing the powder and oxidant. Tease the hair to make sure that you get an asymmetric result and the highlights are away from the root. The teasing will also help avoid making lines on the hair. During a highlight, you get a line on the hair but this is not the case for a balayage. Simon’s decoloring powder can bleach the hair easily. It is available in two colors, blue and white, and for this video, I have used the white powder.

I will use the blue powder to re-apply the product to remove the yellow background from the hair and reach the level of bleach I need. Make sure you have applied the product across the hair and then wrap the foil and move to the next hair layer. We will continue working on the hair layers by sectioning them and applying the product to them as I showed you before until the end.

At the end of the process, we will check our foil wraps and when the product had reached its intended level of bleach, we can rinse the hair. I recommend using Simon’s shampoo and conditioner since it will prevent hair tangles and will give you a shiny and silky hair. You will be able to apply your balayage to the hair easily. I used the chocolate colors from Simon catalog. Simon dyes have a great shine and color and look the same as they look on the catalog. I used the chocolate color because we usually use the balayage method on teenage girls or brides who prefer to have a highlight close to the natural color of their hair. This will give the hair a mild highlight. This is why I used the chocolate color from Simon brand.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. I recommend Simon material and I hope you enjoy the product as much as I do.
