Greetings. Thank you for being with us here at Shokoofe Baran Beauty Institute. Today I want to talk to you about ways of maintaining healthy hair after bleach or decoloring.

It’s unfortunately very common to come across women who have gone through a decoloring or bleaching process for their hair and because of it the hair has been damaged and had become dry and fragile. Our recommendation for those of you who perform the process yourself at home and my professional colleagues is to make sure the process doesn’t progress to a degree at which it could damage the hair.

If you have a client who came to you asking for platinum hair and during the process, you notice that the hair is being damaged and is losing its integrity or decaying, remove the product from the hair and explain to the client that a healthy hair is much more valuable than the result they have in mind. If you want to decolor your hair, make sure not to let the formula remain on the hair for too long.

Normally you should rinse the formula off the hair after twenty minutes and.
If you feel like you need more time, you can do it with a different formula. For example, you can use 12 percent oxidant and white decoloring powder and wait twenty minutes, rinse the hair and then go for a 9 percent oxidant with blue decoloring powder to remove the orange background color from the hair and again wait 20 minutes. Next, you could use 6 percent oxidant with purple decoloring powder to remove yellow pigments from the hair. Therefore, you have to move from potent formulas to weaker ones.

If you are working with a damaged or weak hair, it’s better to perform this process in reverse. Start with a weak formula and then move to stronger ones, each time letting the product remain on the hair for a shorter period. At any point during the process if you felt the hair is losing its integrity, no matter where during the process you are, rinse the hair and stop the process. Instead, use a dye, which can neutralize your background color. For example, if you have an orange background color, use a dye with blue color in it, and if you have a yellow background, use a dye with purple pigments. If you are at a higher level of bleach, you can even use lighter colors to create that fantasy dye your client has in mind.

Thank you for watching. I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. Until next time, goodbye.
