Greetings. I’m Shafi’e and today I want to talk about something that I’ve heard many questions and many requests to cover in detail from my students and my clients. It’s been a few months since my last tutorial, during which I briefly mentioned Plex Therapy. Since then I’ve received many questions.

Right now, there are many products available in the market with names like Olaplex, B-Plex, CA Plex and others. This product is responsible for repairing broken disulfide sulfur bonds in hair which have been damaged due to using chemical hair products. These products are usually provided in a pack containing two separate bottles or containers. One of them is a liquid that you have to mix with your bleaching powder.

These products will help your hair get stronger, hence you can reach a level nine or ten with your bleach. In addition, you can use different types of Plex, such as Olaplex or B-Plex in your mix during a Meche or bleach restoration to make sure you don’t damage an already bleached hair. This doesn’t mean you won’t damage the hair. You will have to perform the process with delicacy and attention either way.

The second Plex bottle, contains hair therapy products. A client, who has already finished a bleach and performed a dye, can massage her hair with this product and wait for fifteen to twenty minutes for the product to take the desired effect. After rinsing the hair, you’ll notice the hair looks healthier and stronger and the fragility and dryness is now gone.

Some Plex packages contain a third bottle also. This is to be used by the client at home. The client will use the product once a week and it will help the hair stay strong and healthy. In regards to Olaplex, it’s important to use the correct dosage and you have to use the exact amount stated on the package. If the dosage isn’t correct, you might not get the result you expect from this product.

After I published my paper about hair rebounding on Rojelab.net, I’ve been asked many questions about this process. Rebounding or Japanese hair straightening, is the process with which you can completely straighten a very frizzy or curly hair. This is only possible if the client’s hair is healthy. You shouldn’t expect to turn a damaged and frizzy hair into a completely straight hair using this method.

There are different products you can use for this type of hair straightening process. There are products for dyed hair, products for natural hair and for sensitive hair. However, we never said you could perform this process on bleached hair. You have to keep in mind that using this method on damaged or burned hair will cut your hair.

To apply the rebounding method, first you have to wash the client’s hair twice using a shampoo. Even if a single hair hasn’t been washed with shampoo, that single hair will not get straight after the process. Next, dry the hair and apply the rebounding material. Even if the smallest amount of this material touches the scalp or hair roots, you can definitely expect the client to experience hair fall. Make sure to apply the product one and a half centimeters away from the root.

After adding the product, use two fingers to smear the whole hair stem with it. Continue this process across the hair and wait the appropriate amount of time. After that, you should wash the hair, dry, and then iron it. Ironing is a crucial part of the rebounding process. The clamp on the hair iron should be aligned and tight in a way that when you close the iron, the two surfaces must touch completely with no space between them.

As the final step, you have to use a neutralizing product. The client should avoid shampooing her hair for three to four days and stay away from hair products. Using this process, you can get a completely straight hair without damaging it. People, who use hair irons frequently to straighten their hair, must be checked prior to the rebounding process to make sure if their hair is suitable. Otherwise, rebounding could end up damaging your hair.

I hope my explanations have been useful to you. Until next time, goodbye.
