How To: Dye Your Hair

In this tutorial, you can see a highlighting technique that can be used for many different types of hair dye.

Instructions:

Greetings. I’m Maryam Ebrahimpour, and I’m a haircut, formula and chignon expert. Today I want to teach you how to work with formula. This technique can be useful for Sombre, Ombre, Balayage, and color melting.

Tease the hair close to the root thoroughly. Add product to your Meche tape. Fade the product on the hair upward. Also, add the product to the rest of the hair to the tip. We can use decoloring powder and nine percent oxidant. If we want the hair lighter, to the point where it looks white, like a level nine or ten, then you must use nine percent oxidant. If you just want to lighten the hair, you can also use six percent oxidant.

Fade the product upward. It’s very important to fade it because it will help you avoid creating visible lines on the hair. I continue this process until the top of the head. Separate another batch, tease the root, and add the product to your Meche paper first so the hair sticks to the Meche without moving. Finally, add the top Meche layer. This is the top of the hair. We still do it the same way. Tease the root to a point where you’re left with a thin layer of hair in your hand. Add the product to your foam paper and continue to until I reach the tip of the hair. Fade the product upward, just as I showed you before.

I just wanted you to see how you should add the product. My model hair has added highlights in the front. However, if it didn’t I would add the product to the front of the hair horizontally. You only have to fade the top of the hair. As you can see, we already have highlighted here. However, I separate a batch without the highlight in order to show you the technique. We’ve already applied the highlight to the back. I separated the darker parts of the hair in the front. Tease the root like this and add the product to the rest. You can choose the layers horizontally. Fade the product upward on the hair. Fade it like this and add the top foam paper.

If you notice dark layers of hair under the hair, you can apply the same technique there as well. Tease the hair, and add the product to the thin layer that remains. We do the same on the left side. You can use foils instead of foam or Meche paper, but the foam is usually easier because it won’t move or fall of the hair.

Our decoloring process is over. I’ve gone to a decoloring level of eight or nine on this hair because I didn’t want to damage the model. If you pay attention to the highlights, you’ll see that there are no visible lines. Teasing and fading the product on the hair made this possible. I’m going to apply a dye and come back. I’ve applied the dye. I’ve used Caramel, champagne and natural color. We can use this color mix on a hair with a decoloring level of nine or ten. You can see how there’s absolutely no line at the bottom of the hair.

I hope you have enjoyed this item.

Until next time, goodbye.
